All Aluminium Conductors (AAC) for overhead power transmission — Specification
This East Africa Standard applies to the requirements for all aluminium stranded conductors (AAC) for overhead power transmission purposes.
Somali Bureau of Standards · National Standards
The official register of Somali Standards (SOS), comprising standards developed locally by the Somali Bureau of Standards through its Technical Committees, together with East African Standards and ISO, IEC, ARSO, ASTM, EN, Codex and AOAC standards formally adopted as Somali Standards. Each adopted standard retains its original reference for full traceability.

This East Africa Standard applies to the requirements for all aluminium stranded conductors (AAC) for overhead power transmission purposes.
This East Africa Standard specifies to the requirements for aluminium conductors, steel-reinforced (ACSR) for overhead power transmission purposes.
This East African Standard specifies requirements for PVC- covered conductors for overhead power lines. These requirements are limited to the PVC covering and to the testing thereof after application to the conductors.
This East African Standard specifies requirements and dimensions for non-armoured PVC insulated cables for operation at voltages up to and including 450 V to earth and 750 V a.c. between conductors. The cables are suitable for use where the combination of ambient temperature and temperature rise due to load results in a conductor temperature not exceeding 70 °C and in the case of a short circuit the maximum conductor 'temperature does not exceed 60 °C.
This East Africa Standard specifies requirements and test methods for A.C. and D.C. spark testing of the insulation and sheath of electric cables, but does not apply to telecommunication cables.
This East Africa Standard gives the requirements for plain or tinned annealed and plain or tinned hard drawn copper conductors in the finished insulated cables. It deals with solid, stranded, bunched and multiple stranded circular conductors and solid and stranded shaped conductors, but it does not cover the following: conductors for use in coils of machines and apparatus; conductors for aircraft cables; conductors for telecommunication cables; conductors for radio-frequency cables; conductors for mineral insulated cables; and conductors for special design, for example, hollow-core conductors.
This East Africa Standard specifies requirements and dimensions for insulated flexible cables for operation at voltages up to and including 450 V to earth and 750 V a.c. between phases. The cables are primarily intended for use under the conditions envisaged in the Regulations for the Electrical Equipment of Buildings. The specification covers flexible cables suitable for operation where the combination of ambient temperature and temperature rise due to load results in a conductor temperature not exceeding: PVC, 70 °C for general purpose and flexible PVC insulation operating at maximum temperature of 70 °C, and, in the case of a short circuit, the maximum temperature does not exceed 160 °C; b) rubber, (i) 60 °C for type 60 °C insulation; (ii) 85 °C for type 85 °C insulation, (iii) 150 °C for type 150 °C, but 180 °C if there are no limits imposed by environmental conditions; and, in the case of a short circuit, the maximum temperature does not exceed:
